Wow! We sure had a lot of fun this second last week of school! We started off the week with Classroom Camping. Students brought their camping chairs, decorated their tents, read books with flashlights, played games outside, created beautiful camp themed art and used their science thinking to build a model tent!

Art: I can make drawings from observations. Students drew a variety of camping related pictures.

Art: I can create art with an emphasis on personal concerns. Students designed a tent in a group and shared what was important to them.

Social: I can appreciate multiple points of view in groups and communities. Students had to co-design a tent that all group members needs.

Science: I can use different materials to build. Students used clay and toothpicks to design mini campsites.

Literacy: I can read a variety of texts. Students enjoyed sitting in their tents using their flashlights to read.

Phys Ed: I can follow gym rules and play fair. Students played various games with beach balls.

As the week continued on, students investigated insects by researching their bug of choice. Students researched what the insect eats, where it lives, the life cycle and some interesting facts.

We even made insects out of clay! This is still a work in progress and we will finish up next week.

On Friday, we walked to Fish Creek park. It was a beautiful day and we made connections to our science work as well as learn from the land. We spotted dragonflies, butterflies, ants, bees, spiders and even an earthworm! Students loved being outdoors and interacting with the natural world.
