Sweet Treats for the Veteran's Food Bank

Thank you to our parents and students who have supported this project.  For weeks now students in grade two have been collecting left over candy from Halloween to package up and give as a donation to the Veteran's Food Drive for Christmas.  These sweet treats have provided us with different math opportunities such as sorting, counting, skip counting by 10's, building number sense, and data collection.  As well, students have had a chance to reflect and think about why it is important to be kind to others-even people we do not know, and thank a veteran for their service.

Success Criteria:

I can:

Estimate quantities

Skip count by 20s, 25s, or 50s, starting at 0.

Skip count by 2s and 10s, starting at any number.

Visualize 100 as a composition of multiples of 10 in various ways.

Collect first-hand data by questioning people within the learning environment.

Record data in a table.

Interpret graphs to answer questions.
