Good afternoon 2nd grade crew families,

We hope you have had an amazing long weekend doing something that you all love! The kids did a great job this week and were very flexible with the ever changing circumstances due to the fires whether that being stuck inside for indoor recesses, lunch breaks and having to postpone their trip to the Zoo.

We will have to draft new field trip letters and forms for our June 5th field trip. These will come home this week please return to your home room teacher as soon as possible.

This week at school we worked on building our understanding about dinosaurs, fossils and what paleontologists do. Students enjoyed learning about dinosaurs, the fossilization process and the exciting work of a palentologist. We had hoped to bring this knowledge and understanding with us to the zoo and to build further upon our learning.

This week, we also practiced addition and subtraction strategies such as using a hundreds chart, a number line and counting on.

Our learning intentions this week were:

I can ask questions to focus research topics.

I can gather factual information on topics from a variety of sources.

I can record factual information through messages that include images, words and sentences.

See you all Tuesday morning. Have a wonderful long weekend!

Ms. Craik and Ms. Chen
