Scientists in Schools

This week we were fortunate to work with Scientist Mel through Scientists in School.  Through a series of experiments and constructions tasks, Mel taught us about forces in nature like: magnetic force, push, pull, friction, muscular forces, non-contact forces, and gravity.  Students enjoyed this experience and were able to bring home a bag of everyday items to share their learning,

Success Criteria:

-identify where and why magnets are used

-distinguish between magnetic and non-magnetic materials

-understand that magnets have properties and can attract and repel

-design a device that uses a magnet

-understand that magnets can work through materials
